 It seems that all these jokes about reric's "early july" patch were misplaced, and that this time, they've gone to the other extreme, and released the early july beta REALLY early! to quote the official site: QUOTE The massive update that is 'There is Only War' will first be available as an open Beta to all owners of Dawn of War II. Players can participate in the Beta WEDNESDAY, JULY 1ST 2009 at 2:00 PM PST through their Steam client. Why Participate?
By participating in the Beta, you'll get to play 'There is Only War' early, where you can play with new balance changes, new updates, and new features, all before the update is officially released. Steam will update your copy of Dawn of War II when you decide to participate. discuss the announcement here

Relic give details on dow2 map builder |

 Relic have given some details on the map builder in the upcoming 1.4 patch. Read it hereThe tools at a player's disposal seem to be complicated enough to be able to do complicated enough stuff to make a map play worthy. It doesn't let you use your own graphics set (obviously). They haven't given that much information on it yet though, so, as with everything else, we won't be able to pass judgement til we get our hands on it. 1 note of caution though: It is recommended to run World Builder on a PC that handles Dawn of War II on 'high' or 'ultra' graphics settings. So this means that map making may be a laggy process for those of us without top end computers. Discuss the map builder here

China Blocks GFWL |

It will be 20 years since the atrocities/events (depending on your stance) at Tiananmen Square this Thursday, 4th of June. In expectation of this, China has banned the usual twitter, blogger etc. But it has also banned Live.com, and with it, anything which requires a live.com related log in, such as DoW2. This leaves plenty of Chinese dow2 players out in the cold for gaming, some of whom don't even care about the tiananmen square events. Mercykil1er/tim8889 has more to say on this, I'd say. And of course, an ubiquituous blog post about it can be found here

Oh right, the hotfix is out too. QUOTE =============================== Patch 1.3.2 - May 14, 2009 ===============================
Dawn of War II 1.3.2 Patch Notes
• Adjusted the Orbital Bombardment ability to increase damage. Outer radius increased to 150 from 100. • Fixed an issue in the campaign where one point was getting auto-allocated at level-up if the player resumed an old campaign. • Made changes to the Mekboy mines. The mines now do drastically less damage and suppress infantry. • Adjusted lighting on 6P Tiber Outpost. • Fixed an issue where Guardian squads would switch to melee stance if upgraded with a Warlock, then with Battle Equipment. • Regenerated AI tuning data.
============================== / end of notes for Patch 1.3.2 ==============================
We are already hard at work on an official Patch 1.4 . It’s too early to give an ETA, however you can expect many bug fixes, a balance update, new maps, and some awesome new features.
